i have a wifi router connected to my desktop pc. it works fine there but whenever i try to connect a wireless connection from the laptop it always says "acquiring network address". what could be the matter?

Your router sounds like it has a WEP key that is not letting you get in.
Reply:On your laptop click start,run, cmd,at the prompt type,
ipconfig /all
ipconfig /release
ipconfig / renew
Reboot your laptop,and check your connection
