The speed displayed (100.0Mbps) is not the speed of your Internet....it is actually showing the strenght of the wire...you know what speed have you applied for.......the download speed depends on the speed of the Internet that you have subscribed and on the resources available for the Item that you are downloading...

You're going to have a problem finding any sites that will feed you 100mpbs from their end. I've also got a 100Mbps connection and I've been able to determine I get the full speed by starting and monitoring multiple downloads from the sites on this page

But you'll need to monitor your total network throughput as well. I use MenuMeters on a Mac. Dunno what you've got on a PC. I test to about 11.7MBps which would be about 93.6mbps which is close enough to satisfy me.

Remember, if you're sharing this connection, like at a college or something, you've got no way of knowing how much of the pipe all the other users are taking. You won't be able to get an actual measurement of the capability of the line, but running a bunch of tests at different times over a period of time will certainly give you a good average of it's realworld capabilities
Reply:First, you're confusing the connection between your computer and the ADSL modem with the connection between the ADSL modem and the ISP. Second, you're confusing KBps with Kbps - KBps is 8* bigger than Kbps.

So, if you have a 1.5 Mbps ADSL connection, you'll get about 180 Kbps maximum, more like 120 Kbps on average.
Reply:the speed displayed does not necessarily mean that will be the speed of your internet connection. your internet connection speed usually depends on your sevice provider. the speed you see only tells you the maximum speed your network card supports.
