Ethernet Internet Router Problems?

Hi, I have purchased an ethernet internet router and spent 3 hours attempting to set it up, with no luck. I have linked the ethernet cables to each computer and into the router, and then linked the router to my modem as instructed. But the computers will not detect each other or the network. Can anyone help?

Try setting the network again, with each computer in the same network domain.

Reply:No, you don%26#039;t have to buy the cable companies, but it does need to be authorized, call the cable company and ask to authorize your modem, they will ask you for a MAC address and hook ya up.

Might also want to make sure that the ethernet cables are actually live and working.
