Is the Internet under attack?

By 2012 the internet as we know will disappear and will be replaced by internet 2 that will be completely regulated by corporations and goverment ...essentially turning our computers into cable tv outlets.
Is the Internet under attack?
Is this a question ?

anyway it won%26#039;t

even alt. newsgroups are still around
Is the Internet under attack?
I think that is a little paranoid. Sure there will be more control from the government and censorship from Internet providers, but people always find a way to get around controls and barriers. Most internet users don%26#039;t do anything subversive anyway so most people won%26#039;t care too much.

The development of Internet 2 is in part due to p2p networks; increased piracy, decreased revenue for corporations, all those child pornography sites, pedophiles stalking minors in social websites, terrorists sites, hate sites and other stuff, that, at least to me, show that self censorship is a fantasy that hardly ever works. There will always be some criminal and antisocial individuals who will use any medium - internet in this case- to take advantage of others.

Governments in industrialized countries don%26#039;t care too much about antigovernment propaganda, because they know people are not very likely to start a revolution, there is no alternative right now to capitalism, like in the times of the Soviet Union.

I wouldn%26#039;t like to have something like they have in China or in some Muslim countries. In those places they really control the information that you can get. That is too much. Here in western countries I don%26#039;t think it will get like that, but because of the things I already mentioned, there will be a decline of freedom of speech at least in the near future
